Exxodium

Since I decided to take this thing seriously, put my money where my mouth is, and actually do exxodium.net, it’s been about a year. And things have been great. Even if I have no readers (I don’t really care, since the content I write will never, ever be beholden to the readers, even if I get more than 10 at a time).

But, I figure I will write a short post explaining exactly where I got the name “Exxodium”.

It really started in 2008, when I was known to IRC networks as Anticitizen, and other things as “itoilet9”. Problem is, none of these things are terribly unique. I sort of wanted my own handle that wasn’t taking after someone else (like the IRC op, Teksura). So I sat at my Xbox, ready to plunk down and change my gamertag to something unique.

At the time, I was working on a Photoshop project named “Phorium”. While I was sitting at the 360, my computer was also playing Muse’s Exo-Politics.

My brain began mashing things together, and eventually the combo of “Exo” and “Ium” came about. But these two things don’t roll of the tongue nicely. Needs a nice letter in the middle to join the two together.

And that letter, after much thinking, became “d”. The extra “x” wasn’t necessary, but I added it for flair.

And from then on, I became known as “Exxodium”. And am frequently told that I probably got my inspiration from Exxod, Master of the Guard. Which is false.
